First Home Improvements

Dear Previous Owner,
Please come back and get your CRAP!
Love, Kelly

After the sale of a foreclosure, new homeowners are showered with presents...
...like these gems in the crawlspace between the bedrooms!

Sam, Papa M, Ben, (& maybe Pherman?) took several loads of junk to the dump
Storage space over the side porch, accessible from master bedroom
(Sam jokingly refers to it as "time out")

Sam and I closed on the house at the end of Jan. 2009. We were able to stay at the apartment for a month while family and friends helped us work on the house. Our parents and brothers gave up a lot of time to help, and we couldn't have done it without them! So many people were willing to lend a hand!

Some of the improvements made:

-As soon as we signed the paperwork (thanks Scott Moore), Sam and I started ripping up the carpet in the bedrooms and living room. Erika stopped by to lend a hand, and that was during the time she was having chemo treatments!

-Sam's parents helped us get the floors refinished after we ripped up the carpet

-Our dads did some serious painting and handy man work!

-My parents helped us get the bath tub resurfaced

-Mama P whipped out cleaning tricks that would put Kate Gosselin to shame! (Including cleaning out a very nasty fridge- if you haven't heard the story, I'll spare you the gory details...)

-Mamaw and Mary Lou also joined in on the cleaning extravaganza

-Mama M watched Abby so that Ben could come over and help, and made her delicious chicken salad to keep us going

-Kevin came up from Charlottesville to strip with Sam and Daddy P! You know, we thought they could make a little money on the side... Hee hee, just kidding. They stripped wallpaper in the family room. (Sorry, I couldn't resist a corny joke!)

-Edna (Wolcott) worked some eBay magic and found burners for our stove

-Sam's Parents, Ben, my parents, Pher, Pete (& Scott?) came over to help load and move stuff on a very long moving day

I may have missed some... there was so much going on during that time!

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP! :)
Love, Kelly & Sam
